So I posted a few 25 cent pieces a few days ago. I have a fair number of 50 cent pieces ( no key dates) and although I the majority were picked up for melt or less I would like to get a better idea of what grades they are.
Thoughts on grade would be appreciated - and also realistically what are chances of getting coins like this sold on ebay for more than melt? I would be willing to go through the effort if I knew I could realize a better value on them than just melt.

My guess is EF-40?
AU-50 needs to have some mint lustre apparently but my eye is not trained enough yet to determine that.
Thanks in advance.

I also think it could be VF-20 - seems like there should be more detail in the hair . . .

F12, F15 at most (the bust is rather washed out in the photos)

Thanks for the reality check - new member, still learning and this is what I need to find out.

So, lets say F12 - any point in trying to sell these online for more than melt?

There's about 9 of these in similar condition on auction right now from the same seller for $4.99 min and no one is bidding (117 total for sale), coinsandcanada says melt value is $4.44, so it seems like it would be tough to get much more than melt for this coin.

The george VI series is FULL of varieties... now is a great time to pick up these kind of coins for cheap if you like to do a bit of variety searching....

For me I think this is a F-12 coin that has been cleaned with a brillo pad...

aghawk, you have to look at the wear on the coin, you can see it on the reverse crown and also on the obverse hair, I would say F-12 at best.
And..., to the Forum..

This book would be a worthwhile investment for you, on this series.
