I too had no idea Newfoundland coins are being faked;
Is there a database for faked coins out there so the community can be apprised, and know what to look for?
I had heard of 1948 silver dollars, but nothing else.
Also, if any of you can recall the story from about twenty five years ago, there was a guy in Edmonton who was busted for making fake loonies - they were close but very crappy ~ I do have one that I got from my mom's (then) boyfriend, he was a manager of a local grocery store, and while the RCMP were collecting them (I don't think any left Alberta) from Alberta retailers, he put one aside for me. I figured that it's worthless, but to me, it's a neat item to have.
