My stepson is your age Ploopy. I am very happy we have so many YN here that are interested in this hobby.

To get this back on track lets see. My most expensive purchase is actual a tie between a 1917 T1 SLQ XF-45 and an 1899 $5 Indian Chief that I got a good deal on.

This will be most expensive purchase for 2015... just the right amount of luster, skin and dirt.

If I buy a 1916 LSQ in 2016 that will set me back between $5500-$7000 for a single coin. It is either that or just leave a hole in my set and go onto another collection. I have all the other LSQ's including 1923-S in EF condition. That one cost me $1300 and was a bargain at that price. If a set is going to cost me much more than the LSQ's I may not attempt it again in 2016. I might just buy individual coins that are key dates. I can buy all the key dates for Washington quarters and even some gold coins if gold continues to drop.

An AU 1883 Eagle for $220 back in 2003. I was just graduating high school, so it was a real big deal at the time that's worth more than my class ring.

The most expensive US coins I have are my 1893-CC and 1895-O Morgan dollars and my two gold half-eagles, but the most expensive coin I've ever bought is my 1847 Gothic crown.

I have not broke four figures in a purchase yet, although a couple of coins that I have purchased have broken four figures when they were sent in for regrade and variety attribution.

Spectacular coin batboy! That toning & wood grain combo is stunning!
My most expensive purchase was under $100.
Parents don't really like me buying coins...

I absolutely LOVE the Capped Bust half dollar designs. My dad doesn't share my affection of classic coins for some reason :|

I just recently broke my original starting record with an 1834 capped bust. Had to save up for a few months, selling candy and gum in a ridiculous black market operation at my school.

I really do want a 1909 S VDB but I think that better wait until I move out.
