This coin looks like one of my 1990s cents that are off centered. Also its at 2.7g even tho its supposed to be 3.11g. Anyone see anything wrong with this coin ?

It looks okay and normal to me. It's just a slick G-04 that has lost some weight due to long-term wear.

The coin may have been struck on a tapered planchet. That would certainly account for the weight discrepancy.

Is there a way to tell if the planchet has been tapered with ? It doesn't look like it is

A tapered planchet exhibit a thinner edge on one side in comparison to the other. Therefore, a weight discrepancy would be expected since there was less of a planchet to begin with. If we judge by your images, then the coin will be thinner at 12:00 on the obverse and correspondingly at 6:00 on the reverse.

If there is no discernible thinness, then the planchet was originally underweight to begin with.

At least to my eyes, your coin appears to be slightly off-center.

thanks for the feedback and suggestions ! I have checked and this penny is only the thinnest at the top where it goes off the rim area.
Rest in Peace
