Bobby , I understand what your saying but some how we need to inform new collectors that e-bay is not a child's playground. And that it's easy to get burnt if your not familiar with that site.
How about a separate forum topic " E-BAY; THE GOOD ,THE ,BAD ,AND THE UGLY " where we can tell about our Good pickups as well as our bad ones.

No, then they get lost. If the individual coins can't be found relatively easy with a search, then it's pointless.

Also, I cannot stress enough, how important the thread title is, to make these topics easily searchable...

Correct. It's probably one of the most important threads on this site.

@Bobby

I know it is possible to move threads into different forums, but is it possible to copy them into a new forum? What I was thinking was that the original thread stays where it is, but a copy of it gets put into a more-concentrated CCF counterfeit database, which would be more-easily searchable when non-members find it.

You can take this with a grain of salt. Just a suggestion.

I agree with Bobby and like the idea of just locking it down once its confirmed fake. or confirmed real too I guess. keeps it in this forum so it is easily searchable and locking it down keeps it short ad sweet and from popping back to the top months later.

Bobby, the only thing I will ask for is that before a thread is locked, at least keep it up for 24 hours to leave room for discussion.

I was kind of hoping for some interesting replies as well too, lol.

And as I post this thread linking to that, the "1870 S" Trade dollar is up to $7,900, the 1796 is up to 6.4K, draped bust 9.2K, and the other 7.9K. An obvious sign of shill bidding, lord.

It appears as if the 1796 dollar one has already tricked someone. Someone bid $6,400 and they have almost 200 feedbacks.

I have a question because a lot of times, and thats been said before, the pictures are gone once listing is removed and a lot of these topics don't discuss what it is that proves it is a fake. I honestly ignore most of them because CHD says it's fake but I have no idea why. Shoot some of them look fine to me, some are obvious, and others I dont know. Anyway I'm not sure why, just like there is a general discussion forum why we can't have a Counterfeit Forum with sub forums like classic counterfeit and modern counterfeit. They should still come up in searches and get in the way of new comers trying to find something. I don't know just a thought.

Frankly I think these "It's fake" threads cross the line too many times. I've been in a couple regarding 1909S VDBs here, and there seems to be this knee-jerk commentary without any substance whatsoever. If you're going to claim it's a fake, be prepared to state exactly your reasons why and with evidence to back it up. Comments like "100% fake" etc don't do anybody any good. A recent thread with CoinHuntingDrew is a good example. He says fake, I respond with images showing die markers that demonstrate that the coin matches certified examples, and there's nothing but terse replies that basically say "No, it's fake". Sure, counterfeits are the scourge of our hobby. But a seller deserves better than the quality of comments that get posted with these "I'm an expert, so it's fake" threads. Be specific. Present evidence.

I already told you why I said it's fake, and others that were identical were proven fake by other well known experienced users here as well.

"I find the posts educational and interesting. There was a suggestion a while back about making this a sub topic, and that might be the solution if these posts are irritating some"

"Correct. It's probably one of the most important threads on this site."
