Aloha,

The next hole in my quest for the '82s is 1082 AD. Alexios I Komnenos is going into his second year; converts to 474/475 AH. 482 AD is also seemingly rare.

*SEEKING LOW GRADE Hong Kong 5 cents or 10 cents* In my work office, I have in frames, circulated notes from the various Asian countries I have spent time in. I have a hole to fill for Hong Kong, and think a 5 / 10 cent LOW GRADE note with character will do the trick. No need to spend good money on higher collector quality, this is just to go into a frame and enjoy the memories. Anyone have something out there? Creases and rough corners are very OK; a couple of my Vietnams have tape. Cambodia, Vietnam, and Hong Kong are the next three for hanging. Here are Thailand x 2, China x 2, Bangladesh, and Nepal.

I collect coins dated with the year of '82 (1982, 1882, 1782, 1682, 1582, etc). I appreciate both US and World. I enjoy types and varieties. I also appreciate any lowball with good eye appeal.

I do generally give a priority to TPG coins for mid to higher value stuff, but am thrilled to check out whatever and make my decisions case by case.

Here is a brief summary of my wants:

1982
US and World Errors
No P Dime UNC
No FG Half UNC

1882 - US
1C - Snow Varieties
3C
5C - Unc, proof, die cracks and RPD varieties
10c - proof. Pretty toned MS, F-102 RPD
25c
50c
Trade dollar
Morgan dollars - UNC VAMs, would love to find a chopmarked Morgan, lowballs.

1882 World
World types of all kinds

1782
El Cazador or any certified shipwreck - Generally looking for higher grade, but hoping a 4R of any grade exists
Spanish Colonial all mints and denominations, chopmarks are enjoyed
German States and other European kingdoms
All other Types

1682
Spanish Colonial cobs of all denominations
German States and other European kingdoms
All other Types

1582
All types

1482 and earlier
All types tied to an '82 such as Ancients with a ruler whose reign started or ended in an '82

A very nice concept/approach to collecting. I really like the idea. Thanks for sharing.
This help narrow down the goal. I am so spread out that now if I want to do similar to you, then it's gonna be hard.

I was a little spread out, but have been having fun over the last several using some of the "other" stuff as assets to hoard a few more '82s :) I just added a German States 1482 and an Italian from 1382. woohoo!

Woah that's nice. You were able to progress quite nicely. I have tried to look for World coin in those eras but most of the coins I've seen at Long Beach coin show are in the hundreds dollar range.....

How did you do it?

I've added Chinese coins of 1182 and Persian coins of 782 :)

Hmmm.... not quite sure what he method to my madness has been. haha. I have my saved searches on ebay, check Heritage, Vcoins, and MA-Shops weekly, and when I got to shows (usually FUN in Fl), I just ask the dealer specifically what I'm looking for, and they usually have something or not, and I move on. There are so many possibilities out there, that I can be somewhat open minded to have my fun in the hobby. At this point I have a feel for what is common (coming up monthly), scares (maybe see it once a year), and rare (better grab it, could be a while!) It's been a fun way to dig into world history!
