Can someone please tell me how this happens? There is what appears, with a 10x, to be a scratch but it isn't. I put it under my digital microscope and came out with something completely unexpected. I think that it is an "L". It sure looks identical to the one right next to it. Anyone? everyone? do I just not know? lol I would love to know how this was struck. It isn't just a regular ole die break is it? It just seems to have been there already and then the die struck. idk. someone please tell me.

The section shown is raised on the die, so I say die crack, or scratch.

I dropped my microscope a few days ago and it is a SOB to keep stead while having to press on the loose screen to activate the camera. give me a few min

I'm pretty certain it is die cracks as well. Just stirring the pot. I took a couple more pics and even made arrows lol. There are die cracks EVERYWHERE on this coin. Not sure I've seen anything quit so ridiculous before.

I am not convinced it is a die crack. The photo is too close up and too grainy and too much reflected light to tell much. Maybe a gouge or dent...however I do not see an "L" at all.

Conveniently placed die chip, IMHO.

Here is an overlay to see if a clash affected it or not.

It could very well be a clash - slightly rotated CCW.
