Congrats on your epic score! I was following this thread to see what the result was. Hopefully, you'll share other finds with us in the future.

A question... I'm assuming that is the same dealer that sent it to PCGS for you. If so, did he absorb the fee or was that what the extra silver dollars were mostly for?

Wow, what a great journey this thread was! Congrats on the fantastic find!

I'd expect a few people to be coming back with apologies. I certainly hope that happens. It got a little raw there for a while.

Cascade , same dealer- he started at 4000, went to $4500 & I said I'm going to take it home & take some photos and stuff & think about it, then after awhile talking I said if you want this coin to stay here before I take it home (knowing I wanted my $250 back) , I said $5250 & he hesitated and said - how about $5000 & 20 coins instead, so I got all the morgans & Peace dollars :) He was happy & I was happy. Until the next great find. Everyone on here have a great & Happy Thanksgiving

Pretty good deal, especially since the dealer would have had to pay to get the coin certified anyway, even if he'd bought it from you straight from the dirt.

How did I know

I love the art of negotiation and you did well taking 20 silver dollars over the $250 and great at pulling an extra grand out of him! Now, go bury the junky ones at different depths in your backyard and test out that new coil

I bet you'll remember this holiday season the rest of your life!

Could you tell us all where you are able to sell common worn silver dollars for $50? I feel you got the better end of that sale.

Silver is hot because the price is down again. I've seen common date morgans in cull to Fine selling for $25 to $30 all day long lately.

Someone probably got into a bidding war here if it was sold at auction, or perhaps the coins were better dates/MMs or otherwise numismatically interesting.

I was thinking the very same thing, and they looked like culls?

Not culls but definitely not AU either. All the dates weren't shown in the pics but I doubt the dealer let a semi key in there by accident. Dignit got lucky twice.

Count me as one of those that was counting on a happy ending. All the Mormon silliness was a bit tedious, but in the end I'm glad this one didn't melt into a gold tablet.

This would make a good story line for the BBC series, "Detectorists"
