A French coin that was seen as radically different when it first appeared - the cupro-nickel-aluminium 10 francs of 1974, a circulating coin worth about $2 at the time. Sadly it proved vulnerable to forgers, like the British £1 coin of 1983-2016, and was replaced by a bimetallic coin in 1988.  Edited by NumisRob
