Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I am kinda new at this whole type set stuff.

On the Edgar Marcus 20th century US type coin frame, would proofs be just fine in it?

They should be fine. If they are going to tone, they are going tone whether they are proof or business strike. I have some proof coins in my Dansco 7070 type album, no complaints.

Okay sheesh, I needed to clean my glasses. So we got Ike dollars at the top of that holder after all.

To be honest, the Edgar Marcus holder does not seal very good, so air can get in. If you want to use proofs coins, you might want consider Capital Plastics holders(Gyrene posted this photo in another thread). Wizard Coin Supply has them, but they ain't cheap.

I've got an Intercept Shield and the Trade dollar was tough and the barbers and the early large cents .... The 20 cent piece kinda tough ....

Recommend you start with the tough guys!

No Trade dollar or Large cents in a 20th century type collection, those are 19th century coins. The expensive one in the 20th century set is the Barber half.

Gee batboy, after seeing that mouth watering type set picture it makes me want to start one of my own. I love those displays but would always worry about displaying it for concern of theft etc. Also exposure to sunlight depending on where I put it.
I would start with 20th century and stay there because it works more for my budget. But those capital plastic sets are expensive.

It would certainly make for a nice looking set.
