Oh Boy! I made a boo-boo yesterday and bought the 1914-D Lincoln that I was supposed to buy next year.
Congratulations.

I am sure the wife will understand after your buy her that thing-a-ma-jig she has always wanted for Christmas.

Hmm, haven't really thought about it.

Lets see:
1932-S Washington quarter
5 lbs of silver
DMPL or monster toned Morgan dollar
GSA CC Morgan dollar
1918 $1 Black Eagle
1899 $2
1907 $5 Woodchopper

If I can get half of these I consider 2016 a good success for my collection.

1. Fill at least a couple more holes in my Lincoln album (I'm down to a few key dates).

2. Finish up my 7070 US type album. Just bought a 1851 Half Cent and 1838 reeded edge bust half dollar as an early Christmas present to myself. I only need two Seated Liberty dollars now and I'll have all of the holes filled. That should just about take care of my tax refund.

Edit to my previous post. 1918 $1 bill is the green eagle. The black eagle is 1899.

Basically I am a type collector.
My goal for 2016?
Simply to acquire interesting and unusual U.S. coins in reasonable condition and value for money, (mainly of the 19th century), as part of my World collection, all ages and cultures.

Hmmmmmm

Since Uncle Sugar is sending me to Japan next year I want to:

Finish my uncirc Spanish Euro 2013 - 2016 (CRH)
Finish my uncirc Portugal Euro 2014 (CRH)
Finish my uncirc German euro 2014 (CRH)
Start my uncirc Japanese yen 2016 (CRH)

What Euros I do not find CRHing I will probably just purchase on my last visit to Seville.

Not related to the move:
Continue (possibly finish) my Republic of the Philippines set
Continue my US Admin of the Philippines set
Continue working on ultra modern sets with the kid
Keep an eye out for 7070 fillers
Keep an eye out from strange denominations

Make it to ALL three Baltimore Whitman shows (but that's pretty much a given).
Maybe(?) go to a FUN show; a definite possibility especially if I can interest the wife.

Now for coins:
-- Finish my FE/IHC set.
I need 1889 and 1897 IHC's. Sounds easy? Not when I want -64 or -65 CAC-level coins.
And the FE? No surprise. I need an 1856. But not just any 1856; an S-3. That's the only one of the nine varieties considered a business strike (I avoid proofs).
-- Get another coin for my type set.
All the ones I'm missing are in the 1790's.

It's highly unlikely that I'll get all 4 but at least it's something to aim for.

I have no specific collecting goal for 2016.

If I see a coin I like (and can somehow explain to my wife why I must have it), then I may go for it.

I don't set goals. If I see something I like and I happen to have the cash on hand I buy it. I am working on a set of Standing Liberty quarters and have some holes in my 7070 to fill, but that doesn't mean something won't pop out at an auction or show that I just have to have.
