My 2016 goals are:

1. Add at least 3 more silver classic commemoratives to my 50 piece type set. So far I have 39 of the 50, all of which are NGC or PCGS and 34 of those 39 being MS-66. Trying to put a set together to be in the top 30 NGC Registry staying only with naturally BRIGHT WHITE no toning no dipping.

2. Add at least 3 or 4 more type coins to my type set 1797 to 1964. I have all the gold except a nice $5 Classic which seems to elude me for a really choice piece.

3. Complete my one (or more) of each date set from 1797 to 1964. Only missing an 1801 and an 1815. Hopefully an 1815 quarter will show up in the grade I'm looking for (no problem VF-30 to EF-45). For the 1801 I just haven't found anything I've been able to fall in love with.

4. Get at least half of the 19 coins I still need to finish an all PCGS and NGC MS-63 to MS-67 set of all US coins (not including proofs) from 1934 to 1964. Many I still need are the 30's Walkers which I am really picky about. Trying to find good strikes for many of them (especially the S mints) is darned near impossible. It is a blast searching for them, though.

5. Get whatever they decide to do for the ASE's for 2016 so I can keep my set up. Those are the only coins I buy or own after 1964, so it is nice to have a relatively "cheap" way of adding some fun.

6. Find a nice graded 1952 proof set to finish my set run.

7. Custom make some acrylic holders for displays of some of the slabbed sets I've finished. I'll show pictures when they are done!!

8. Keep learning here!

I like these goals! Can't wait to see how we all do. I love how no matter what stage of life financially, there are sets/collections for everyone! Can't wait to see the type sets I love those.

Get more organized and do some streamlining/downsizing... I have some new albums that will help with that and an unused 7070 that may be part of my organization OR I may downsize it. If so it will be offered up here to our members first!

Coin goals:
Finish jefferson Circ set... 17 to go. All found from roll hunting.
Finish buffalo Circ set...
Find 1859 IHC ms64 or up that I really find attractive.
Buy more reference books.

Nothing to spectacular as getting things ordered is my main goal this year.

I am hunting the White Whale (1916 LSQ) in at least Fine condition. I have a lead. I don't want to pay $7000 for this coin. I saw a 1917-D LSQ in MS65 condition today. The dealer wanted $2500 for it. It is slabbed and certified. It looks so perfect that is does not even seem real. I don't believe there were any proofs, but this coin looks like a proof. This is a coin for a certain type of collector/investor. I just want to complete the LSQ set and then a Mercury dime and Buffalo set next year. I can do this especially if the oil market turns around and I can sell some oil stock and at least break even I will have cash to indulge in buying coins. I have not really seen a coin set I don't want to collect. It is just a matter of cost. A set of Liberty Head Double Eagles would be a consummation devoutly to be wished if I were a multimillionaire. Even a set of Indian Head Eagles would be an accomplishment, but I must have money, money, money.

Hoping to fill a few more holes in my type set in 2016. Would really like to find a nice Classic Head Large Cent but that is going to be both difficult and expensive. Would also like to get some nice higher grade Barber coins which I currently lack too.

Starting to get into ancients coins so I'd like to start assembling a small library of books on the topic.

My goal in 2016 as silver price keeps going down and down is to get more and more silver, whether Eagles or 90%. Based on my past performance, this is probably a foolish thing. Oh well.

Goal #1. Try not to die.
Goal #2. Try to buy nothing but key dates.
Goal #3. Keep my wife from knowing how much I spend on coins.

Oh Boy! I made a boo-boo yesterday and bought the 1914-D Lincoln that I was supposed to buy next year. I guess I can now use 2016 as a "pay-off-my-debt" year instead of buying more coins.

When my wife joined me at my last visit to a coin show, and noticed how much some coins cost, she told me (and quote) "If you ever spend that much money on a coin I'll shoot you!". ..........It's been nice being on this website; thanks!.

Reminds me of the African joke where the man divorces his wife by saying "I divorce you" 3 times. The next caption was the wife holding a gun going "I shoot you!" 3 times . . . time to buy her some nice jewelry first before a coin purchase. ;-)
