I'm sure someplace early in this thread I contributed, as I have spent and continue to spend both half dollars and dollars routinely when the purchase is under $30. I also leave them as tips regularly at restaurants.

I wish I had kept track of all the halves and dollars I have spent in the last several years, trying to push these back into circulation and stimulating more than a few to start collecting them. I also enjoy all the many interesting comments. It is more surprising to not get any comment at all when halves or dollars are used.

It is in the upper 1000s what I have spent in dollars and halves over the years based on my roll searching records. I never take them back to the bank.

The most recent I can remember exactly is I left a $10 tip in halves at a Chinese restaurant.
