Today I purchased a Gatorade Zero and a Body Armor drink from the local Dollar General Store. The total was $3.21. I tendered a two dollar Federal Reserve Note, a one dollar coin, and a half dollar coin. The cashier said she was unable to accept my money. After consultation with her manager it was determined that Dollar General could accept the two dollar Federal Reserve Note. After a second conversation with the manager it was determined that Dollar General could not accept the dollar coin because of "company policy" and the company's "procedure for making deposits." I then tendered a two dollar Federal Reserve Note, a one dollar Federal Reserve Note, and a half dollar coin. The cashier then just gave me a condescending look and refused my payment. I then tendered a two dollar Federal Reserve Note, a one dollar Federal Reserve Note, a dime, two nickels, and a penny and the transaction was completed.
At least I tried.

I used 7 Presidential dollars at the local goodwill the other day. The young woman who checked me out had to get a manager because she had never heard of such a thing and didn't think they were really money.

@jbuck - I've never had a problem using any of those 3 at my local Dollar General. Mine has always accepted them.

I was able to use FOUR one-dollar coins yesterday. I gave a waitress two for a tip ($9.54 bill) at a local National Coney Island. Later, I used two more to help pay for a $3.25 pop at the bowling alley.
$64,728 to go!
