I don't think this could be called a Cud. Could it be related to the nick on the rim? It looks like there is more metal beside the Y than would have been displaced from the nick. If it is from the nick, however, how did it get to where it is? What is this and why is it? Any help appreciated!

Edited: Also see my photo of the ding lower in this thread.

It looks like it happened after the strike. The part over the right arm of the Y appears higher than the rest of it.

Thank you.

I'm not sure about that. This feature is at the same level of the rim and the Y appears to be at the same level as the rim.

Maybe at one point this was a Cud, then it got the huge rim ding, and the Cud was forced over onto the field. then over the pat 45 years it was flattened. to me this coin offers no premium.

Check to see if a Cud like this one is listed. If not, I would assume PMD (I believe it to be PMD, though...)

Does it move at all? Try using a toothpick to lift it upwards or wiggle it. That is some very conveniently placed damage on the edge though.

From that view, it doesn't look folded over, but maybe pushed out. Hopefully an expert will overrule my less than expert (but honest) opinion.
