First I thought damage CM but when I zoomed it looked like it may be a cud-your pics are ridiculously sharp but just that area when I zoom it gets just blurry enough to not be sure? The rim is not damaged right there or is it?

Thanks Slamnbass, you're right there's no damage on the rim near the area in question.

Hmm, I was thinking it looked pushed down too in the 2nd/3rd pic.

Your pictures are good, but for your 3rd picture did you have the whole obverse and crop the image down to that corner? It's better to take a photo of the area in question being in the very center of the camera. This way you don't get the blur/distortion that occurs on the edges when you put a loupe in front of a camera and instead you get the crisp detailed focused area.

Once again, I am leaning towards calling it a Cud.

Blue, I'm not that advanced. I just shot the pic you see and cropped the whole pic. I just have an inexpensive little Coolpix.

To me, it's all about the light.
BJ, I think it fits the definition, let me ask Mike where he see's the damage.
Mike, where do you see the damage?

Not a Cud in my humble opinion.

The sunken depression in the center of the location in question is not consistent with a die break ... this is PMD in my view.

The coin contains other rather significant damage ... consistent with a tough life post mint.

Nickelsearcher I appreciate your humble opinion. I disagree with it though. Damage elsewhere on the coin or even on the Cud itself, doesn't make it inconsistent with a die break. What it does do though, is make it ugly and not a good example. By definition it's a Cud. jmo

By looking at the damage all over both the obverse and reverse I'd have to conclude that the area in question is just more damage to the coin unless better photos dictate otherwise. It looks like pushed down metal - nothing like a Cud.

Okay, there seems to be a consensus here. I was wrong. It is not a Cud. Thanks everyone for the input.

CoinMasters: What I was saying isn't too advanced of a trick :P I'm bad at explaining things. When you take your photos, have 1 pic the whole coin (as you did) and an entirely different photo with the area in question being in the center of the view. This just reduces the blur since the center is the most focused part and the edges of the pic are the blurriest(Due to how lenses work).

Oh, I see what you're saying, Blue. I will keep that in mind for now on. Thanks. Unfortunately I can't do that with this coin though, I just finished beating it with a hammer. Of course I am just joking, but I truly am over this one.
