Fun find. I hope it's a real scarce item, even if I don't have one.

These sets are third party packaged, just a neat packaging error, chuck it on ebay , who knows before more is found.

Here is another set with a 2003 small queen in a 2004 new queen set.In a good economy I seen these sell in the $400.00 mark. Today's market I'm not sure. These are very scarce with mix matched year coins!!

Wildflower are you saying this years coins have the ugly security features. I was hoping they were excluded. These are cool finds. I wonder what other year sets have mismatched coins. So much for hand selected coins, unless thought it would create a buzz, by making a few mismatched sets. What grade these coins at, as they are supposed to be superior to the common mint roll coins. It doesn't make sense to have a third party package them. Especially if they are doing lay offs. Yeah went back and studied the images on the computer, I now see the security features. I was getting pumped thinking we were going back to pre security coins, oh well.

That's right, the 2016 coins are the same design as 2015. Next year, 2017 and Canada's 150th anniversary, there's planned to be an entirely different design for each, much the same as occurred in 1967 (but different designs of course).
As for grade, since 2011 they're the same as circulation coins -- which comes from the mint, same as mint rolls. "Gems" (higher grades) are easier to find in mint rolls because of sheer odds owing to greater volume. Charlton lists the standard grade of coins in Uncirc sets to be MS-65.

That's a truly quirky set especially with the mismatched effigies. So many of these sets get broken apart, good examples of why it's important to "Always Look Before You Snip"!

If you can get close to 400 bucks jump on it, it's not the type of errors that has much wow factor I would have thought maybe 50.00 or so but that is what ebay is so great.

I think it has great wow factor, similar to mule coins. I'm not understanding why the advice to "sell it on ebay" is often offered when collectors simply post pics of unique items that they have acquired.

As errors go this type is not worth anywhere close to 400.00 in my opinion, just like the first 2005 non mag p penny that TCNC auctioned for over 20,000.00 two bidders got carried away and now the Shopping show has many units for sale at 2700.00, first to the market is usually the seller to get the best price, but if the person likes this type of package error great keep it, it's a nice find.

John, thanks for explaining your opinion. Interesting aspect about coin collecting is I suppose we're all in the hobby for many different reasons. Although knowing it's unlikely, on the off chance when my set arrives in my mailbox next week if it contains a. 2015 loonie the last thing I'd think to do is throw it up on ebay to see how much I could get for it. The reason for that's because it's the oddities, the anomolies and the varieties that to me make each person's collection unique and far more interesting.........and if I $old everything that had any value, I'd be left with an absolutely boring, worthless collection that would most certainly end my interest in the hobby. ......just a different point of view.

There is a thread on the errors section regarding a 1963 50 cent struck on copper in it I mentioned a 1995 NGC 50 cent on a loonie now that is an error with wow factor, not trying to brag, but it's no where worth the 20 grand that 2005 penny sold for. I was just trying to say to the poster if you have no love for this type of errors, first to sell get's the best price.

What is unusual and unique about the hobby of coin collecting compared to other consumer purchases - for example electronics, clothing, groceries - is if something is wrong or abnormal with the manufacturing of it, it doesn't increase either the value or appeal. Instead it becomes a worthless, defective product.
I don't know that we'd ever know the answer but in general I strongly suspect the first offers to sell made toward the average collector who by chance ends up with an anomaly are from others who intend to flip it for even greater profit. Your example is valid but I don't think anyone is suggesting irregular Uncirculated Sets are in any way comparable.

I really appreciate all the different opinions on what to do with this set. I am going to keep it as it adds to the oddity of my collection. It is this kind of item that makes your collection unique. Hopefully it is one of a kind.
