Congratulations!!!!!! Well DONE!!

MERRY Christmas!!!

My suggestion is the Early American Gold, I've always been fascinated by early American Gold, even though I don't have any, I still love them.

adobero let me just say, and I am not trying to influence you in any way, MINTAGE is very important in the world of collectables! And, not to mention, how many 10 ounce coins do you own? Just thought I would add my Two Cents worth and really happy to see any one here grab such a nice gift on Xmas day. Thanks to everyone for making this place so special.

Oh, the choice is SO difficult, numismatic vs. intrinsic value; historic value vs. artistic beauty; modern vs. older; something that originated in romantic and exotic Australia...I'm in a very unenviable position(LOL). You're right Terry, a 300 mintage and a 10 oz. chunk of pure silver! but...to not choose gold? Cisco says take the gold coin and run....but, WHICH gold coin? Help! And what about the 1997 coin and note portfolio, could this be the sleeping giant?

It really IS nice having all of my friends helping me make this decision...funny how suddenly I have friends I never knew I had...LOL. Those silver Kookaburas are stunningly beautiful.
I did a little research on the Perth Mint. It's very interesting, looks like it was at the same location for all of its 100 yrs. then just recently moved to another site...was responsible for actually refining the metals as well as minting coinage for the empire. Now, looks like it moved to another site, and is responsible for making collector coins and such; circulating coinage manufactured by another mint at Canberra. It was interesting reading about Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. I had never heard of him, but turns out he is the Australian Charles Lindbergh...first to fly across the Pacific; But he dissappeared in 1935 before Amelia Earhart, he was never found either.

I had a question for you lim, if you are lurking: on option one, the Perth Mint Centenary Sovereign, do I understand you correctly to say that the inner core alone is the same size, weight etc, as the normal Aussie sovereign? (which means that the outer ring of silver makes the whole thing a larger diameter than the Aussie sovereign?) Thanks

Affirmative...the inner core has the same specs as a normal gold sovereign...weigh, size and composition of metal.

There were two of these types struck by the Perth Mint. One is Unc and the other in proof condition. This one is proof.

Thomas is certainly a star in my book! Lim, I just wanted to thank you and everyone again who donated coins to this giveaway. What an act of generosity. A great way to promote the coin hobby and this forum.
I have decided that since I have always dreamed of traveling to Australia, and to me it is such a romantic, exotic faraway place, that the prize I choose must be from there. For a while, option 4 was in the running, a true piece of American history, and uncirculated too! For me, the hard part was deciding between option one and two. Both capture the essence of Australia, but it's so hard to choose between gold and silver! For this reason, I have decided to compromise and........

choose......

yes, OPTION ONE...THE Perth Mint CENTENARY SOVEREIGN. That way, both silver and gold are there, and a nice piece of history to boot. And besides, the beautiful St. George with his dragon design is there! Thank you so much for this honor, and I don't think I'll enter anymore contests for awhile! I apologize for taking so long to decide, but if you were in my shoes...what would you do? LOL This is not a coin that I will ever sell, I intend to keep this for the rest of my life. I think the coin will have a nice, dry home here in AZ, probably not unlike its present place of residence.

Good choice! Had I been the lucky winner, that's probably what I would've chosen as well. Enjoy it!

Well Done...a very good choice. As you have summised, it is made up of both metals, limited mintage, commemoration of the oldest running Mint in the World and is a real beauty to behold.

Please email me your full address and it would be sent first opportunity by registered air mail.
