Hey everyone I picked up my first Shield nickel today, I gave 30$ for it. I think it's around vf35 but I don't have any experience with them so what do you guys think?

I'm going to go with XF40, weak strike as usual, neat die cracks at the tops of the wreath. Good looking Shield, problem free.

I agree it should make XF. It looks pretty nice with the only exception being the stain? on the reverse.

Super example for $30 that grades an easy EF-40. A little tougher date to boot. Congratulations.

Agree E-40, but tell us what's going on with that spot on the reverse.

im at XF40 also, majority of stars show full detail on a 35 majority will not. also, majority of leaves show veins. you wont see this on a 35. most of them will not have veins still showing. fully defined vertical lines are also a signature of a 40 coin

Thanks guys for the info, I'm not sure what the stain is. I'm looking into getting a digital camera, just a ok one, that way I can get close up pictures.

That's a good price for this coin. I'd say it's an XF.
