It would just not be the same.

Of course, I collect lower grade coins so the only slabs I will be cracking are key dates (where the slab was for authentication, not preservation).

You paid extra to get the coin in a slab so that's where I'd keep it. You're going to lower the value if you crack the slab. Just my opinion..

That is a great looking coin.

In my opinion if the value is less than 50 bucks no problem cracking, 50-100 I would give it some thought, >100 Almost no chance.

Based on the Numismedia value and PCGS pop figures I would not hesitate to crack this one.

are you doing a book set that you want this a part of? if so crack it.. if your collecting red coins in a slab keep it in there

$40 good price, especially if you needed coin but with those pictures hard to say if you got excellent deal until coin is in hand!
