billjones Pillar of the Community United States 1499 Posts	Posted 03/10/2016 1:37 pm I would grade it AU-50. The clash marks on these coins is so common that it is almost normal. The mint had a hard time striking these coins, and the employees called them " the devil's copper." The completeness of the vertical lines on the "III" is a plus. Report this Post to the Staff
CoinsKelly Pillar of the Community United States 3453 Posts	Posted 03/11/2016 12:37 pm , the weakness in the hair is most likely a strike issue - the fact that you have defined lines for a 1865 is a plus. I would look at date, it is difficult to tell from the picture but you might have a variety (I think I see something below the 5 - could be my imagination). Report this Post to the Staff
