Always best to remove coin from whatever holder it's in (when possible) before taking pics.

I see no weakness opposite the "clip" (Blakesley effect), plus the "clip" does not seem smooth.

So I suspect that it is not a clip.

The reverse looks good but I can't see enough for the obverse. Straight clips have less pronounced Blakesley effects for some reason so I'm not dismissing this as PMD yet.

This does not appear to be an authentic "clip" I certainly wouldn't buy or sell a coin like this.

I believe it is a legit straight clip.the reverse is clear enough that you can see how the rim tapers at the clip. That would be near possible to duplicate. To be certain though, the coin needs to be removed from the 2x2 and new pics taken.

I agree that the coin needs to be photographed out of the 2x2. Here is a link to an article on clip errors. Hope someone can find it useful.

Yes, it is legit, and I would not hesitate to buy this coin.

Blakesley Effects are often quite subtle on straight clips, especially on the anvil die. I have similar examples ranging from 1c to nickel dollars. The dovetailing of the rims tell me everything I need to know about it.
