This actually looks like a lot of the late 80s cents I look at. The ones I usually review show a break in the copper layer which begins zinc rot around the MM. (this led me to be believe that I was finding a lot of RPM or DD on the mintmark when I first started).
If there is a color distortion between the MM and the "shadow", there is probably zinc rot.
