You know what? I was all over the Mint using this style of reverse gold plating, but looking at the photos -- as nice as the design is -- reminds me of those National Collector's Mint 9/11 Commemorative medallions. :(

Some will like some will hate. Personally, I think the mint hit it out of the park with the 2016 Inukshuk.

So, as we can observe, multiple accumulation of these coins in the reseller's hands, flood on ebay, and cancellations caused to the Inukshuk sold for issue (after fees) Note: The COA was #16 .... people do not care http://www.ebay.ca/itm/141950746061...RK:MEBIDX:IT br / if the seller paid the tax and shipping, so the coin sold for a lost. Well....nothing good here, but this is expected result, when standard edition is over-hyped.

Possibly they're applying the sales strategy to reasonably price a current release with the knowledge that buyers often tend to purchase one or more other items at no increased shipping cost. It's also possible that a seller such as this one, who appears to be selling most of their items barely above cost, buys RCM products mostly to maintain a certain level of MC status. With no motivation toward profit, the seller reduces their risk of later being forced to sell at a loss.

That's a lot of work to maintain MC status, no?

Ya but at 59.99 on ebay they are selling at a loss, since ebay and Paypal take like almost 10 percent (6% plus 3%) give or take. You need to sell on ebay at like 10 percent inflated price from what you paid just to break even, unless your a big seller and have low ebay fees. Even more if its not coins, then its 10 percent plus 3 percent with out a store.

Here is a quote from another thread which really confuses me. Quote: The market can't absorb 6000 for the Gold Plated Inukshuk This coin sold out in a day from the mint and easily sells on ebay between 10 to 30% premiums. Here are a couple that sold in the last 24 hours. ebay item number: 172160487014 ebay item number: 141950746061

I was thinking the issue price was $54.95 for some reason, but still a very tight margin. If you've noticed this sellers sold listings, they've moved a fair amount of other reasonably priced NCLT as well. RCM MC status would be only logical reason that I can think of, otherwise, as you suggest, what's the point.

Darryl, the listings, that you gathered, they are looks like small loss for the seller (seller might be paid Tax and shipping) But with this coin, sellers still happy, that managed to unload it.

I agree that selling at $59.99 or even $66.99 that you are either losing or just breaking even. I guess I should not have focused on the price point but rather the fact that they sold out at the mint and regardless of what some say, they are selling quite well on the secondary market ( ebay). I am not sure why this coin is so easily dismissed as doing poorly.

Yes, it still sells, and has a level of popularity. So, together with demand, that exists, there are many coins (and you can see it on the large amount of listings) that in re-sellers hands.

I'm not one to proclaim the merit of MC status whatsoever but others here might disagree, mostly because they see value in getting first dibs on the 2oz limited edition series or other special or free offers. But if I was so inclined, I'd much prefer selling at cost on ebay to collectors who missed out on the initial release - as opposed to buying "limit of 3" XforX each month and then heading directly from my mailbox to a bank to redeem them.
