A bank might have a few coins, or they might be able to order some from their supplier, but there might be a service charge. My bank never has any and they can't/won't order any.

You can't get rolls of large dollar coins from the mint. Most banks can't order rolls of large dollar coins either.

I have been lucky enough to find $10 and $20 rolls of large dollars at banks in different locations, in the customer-wrapped variety. Very rare to find large dollars in quantity, as even non-collecting customers ask for them all the time.

If you check the coin roll searching forum, some people can get bags of them from their bank, but others cannot. So it appears to be inconsistent based on the local methods of ordering coin.

I tried to order them from my bank where I get my halves,,,the woman who orders them for me said she places an order through the computer and it won't allow her to specify large vs small dollar coins. The coin company Loomis simply won't allow her to place a specified request, only what is on the order list I guess....I don't mind as I have finished my Ike collection, but finding them is often rare and you rarely see them in circulation or banks. When I do find them I give them to one of my local CU's teller who gives them to another customer who collects them (Why hold them if I have a complete set, and I see it as helping another collector). If you can get a bank to order you bags of large dollars definitely go for it (People have done it on here and have found Morgans, Peace, and silver eagles in bags)...I wish I could do that.
Rest in Peace

I'm not even sure if they make paper wrappers for large dollars anymore. The FED has millions of the things sitting in warehouses, but like alphaomega said, banks can only order "dollars" and the fed likes to follow a LIFO policy--last in, first out. They will avoid moving the heavier Ike dollars unless specifically requested to do so, which the ordering system doesn't allow the banks to do.

I have never gone into a bank and not asked for large dollars; in the last 8 years, I have gotten two.

In my six years of really being into the hobby (since 2010), I came across only one bank (in Avon, Connecticut) that had two customer-wrapped rolls of large dollars. They were in paper wrappers of $20 and were all Eisenhowers from the early 1970s (solid rolls of '71s and '72s, if I remember correctly).

Once, when asking for halves at my favorite bank, the teller told me she did not have any, but had 9 Eisenhower coins. Other than that, I have not seen any.
