I'm wondering how this appearance was achieved. It's strangely bizarre, even for an AT Ike.

Haven't we seen this guy before? Look at all his listings. I am thinking he used a torch.

Don't know if it would work on other metals. Yes, horrendous.

I'd pay face for it without question, just for a curiosity piece. But he's asking $30? Geeez.

I agree. I would certainly keep it if I got it in change. But paying a premium? Nope.

Well, it is silver (40%) so the melt is maybe $5. Otherwise it isn't worth any premium. Actually looks like environmental damage to me but I am no expert.

Oh yeah. For some reason I had it in my mind that it was a Denver issue. Yes, I'd pay $5 for it. I think Cascade is right - frying pan torture.

It looks to me just like the damage that happens when a coin is placed onto that awful red fake-velvet foam, that was commonly used back in the 1970s by numismatic re-packagers and mass-marketeers. That stuff was acidic and quickly caused the coins to tarnish in a very un-natural way, turning the high points and open fields black.
