This is a 2 sols (24 deniers), not 2 deniers. A 2 deniers coin would have been tiny (and more appropriate for the 17th century).
A few months ago, I happened to get a bunch of assorted 2 sols coins from 1791-93 (not this type, because this type is specific to BB mint, but very similar). They were mostly a lot more worn than your example though, and, IIRC, even on the better examples the date and mint didn't show up so perfectly.
