Roman Republic, denarius, 62BC -- Sear RCV 367, RSC I Scribonia 8d: If this were a modern coin, I suppose it would be considered an error (off-center strike).

I wanted to post this one for 1st century BC, but I'm not entirely confident of the dating, and I forgot it changes at Sunday and not Monday, anyway. Antioch AE18, civic issue, ca. early 1st century BC (perhaps late 2nd, I'm not very sure). There should have been a date, but it's off flan, unfortunately. Wildwinds lists the legend as ANTIOXEWN THS METROPOLEWS (with assorted variations), and the coin under numerous listings, but perhaps as RPC 4201cf. None of them are anywhere near that yellow, however (my coin pretty much looks like brass instead of bronze).

Thanks for getting us started on the new century @daviduk! Here is an As of the Spanish City of Castulo dated to between 200 and 100 BC. I'm not sure who the figure is on the obv, but I thought including his hand was really interesting. On the rev, you can see a sphinx with the tops of the letters KASTILO in the exergue. Attribution is CNH 39 and SNGBM Spain #1338-1140.

Here is a Greek bronze coin of Macedonia minted between 277 and 239 BC. It is attributed as SNG Cop 1205ff and was issued under King Antigonus II Gonatas. You can see his ANTI insignia on the rev under Pan.

Nice coins all!
I was away for a week and have been caught up in life too much to dig out and image some of the coins from the last week (photobucket Mobile is borked so I can't get to my old images easily on my lunch break). I'll hopefully get on the PC this week to post what I missed!
