I noticed that some Australian 1921 Pennies have 2 vertical bars by the neck collar and some only have 1 vertical bar?

Are some 1921 Australian Penny coins meant to have 2 bars and some meant to have only one bar or is the a error?

If so, then what variety of 1931 Australian Penny are meant to have 2 bars and which variety are meant to have 1 bar?

A pic would be helpful to pinpoint exactly what you mean but I'm assuming it is the variety "impression of N under king's chin" which exists on most pennies from 1916 to 1933. Not sure about the one bar two bar thing though.

I think I found the problem. Part of the neck collar on the coin I have is worn off (The detail is not great), so it looks like 1 bar.

On other coins where the detail is better, the collar shows up and it looks like 2 bars.

Thanks for your help.

My coin is worn on the collar, so I mistook it as a bar. I looked at the Indian and London photos of a good coin and realized my mistake. There is gap between the bar and the collar on my coin, which I think confused me.

MMMMMMMM. Well I would call it a die variety, and one I haven't noticed before. Just a quick run through of 300 I've found a few on both indian and london dies. Don't think it is die wear or die fill but needs further investigation.
