I have a set of these as well also without the 1794 and 1804. My last chance to get a decent 1794 was about 5 years ago when Harry Laibstain had one. It was straight graded as a VF and weakly struck. Since the it's been nothing but "details" graded coins in my price range, and I don't spent big money on problems.

The 1804 really isn't a part of the set. It's a fantasy coin, and the only type I would even consider if I won the Power Ball would be one of the "original" variety pieces.

I have thought about the 1802 over 1, but that is harder to find than you may have been led to believe.

I bought the 1797 from Harry. The 1802 I have in the set is an 1802/1 and its pictured earlier in this thread. I will never buy the 1794. I'd rather buy another house first.

Congratulations, andrew99!

The 1795 DB is one of my favs... Heck! I find all the small eagles very appealing. As I work on the large eagles I hope to add an 1802/1 as well. Good choice!

In case you and Bill change your minds, the Miller Collection 1794 is for sale through David Perkins. However, you will need to be able to look beyond a noticeable ring issue at 2 o'clock on the reverse. Also noted for a cool $1M you can grab a AU58 off ebay. If I hit the power ball, I might just be tempted...

Bill- You should start a thread and post your early dollars. I enjoy seeing all of your nice coins, but I have soft spot for the early dollars.

Andrew99- good luck finish your set! Looking forward to seeing you complete it.

Edit: W. David Perkins

The AU-58 is one of the finest known and David Lawrence has it. $1MMM is a bit out of my price range.

Thanks. I'd do the registry set, but I'd be #3 with far to much money to spend to catch up to Bill Jones.
