I think the fact that nobody will have these in-hand until September, along with the lack of pre-sale listings on ebay at the moment will make them hot sellers! September is the month when Star Trek first aired so in a way it makes sense to delay the release. Collectors who are attending the world's most popular Star Trek convention in Las Vegas in August will most likely hear about the coin and will want one. Just my opinion! Also, this coin is a WORLD first, similar to the 2013 Superman gold and similar to the Ladybug Venetian Glass coin, which as many of you may know, are very popular coins that command large premiums. I am CDN Coin & Currency VIP member and had the opportunity to buy another gold coin but couldn't decide. Out of stock decided for me.
So when is public release day? Is it May 13? Public release day for the Star Trek coin may be last chance to order it at dealers at issue price.
Does anyone know if Canada Post will sell the gold coin? If they are going to sell the rest of them they should also have the gold one.

Their actual release date is May 13th. @New1954, that was me. They still don't have a clue. I called three times this morning/afternoon and was told repeatedly that the gold coin would be released on Friday for everyone. I said, "Are you sure?" They said, "Yes, there will be NO pre-sale for VIP members." Shortly after that last phone call the coin was released online (for some reason I did not receive an email alert), and I'm out of luck. The salt on the wound is that they allowed 2 per customer. Thanks for your alert, but I saw it too late. Will try my luck with other dealers on Friday. Edited by Looney4Numi

The email stated that because I was a high VIP, I was being sent this advance email. I received it at 3:57pm. I emailed my girl and asked her for one and I got it.
Is there not anyone that you speak with there? I never order from the website. I order from her via email and she replies and confirms.
Be persistent! Call and speak with a rep and let them know how you tried repeatedly to call in with no success.
They really are customer service oriented. If you are VIP, they will do anything they can to make you happy.
Also, no credits are ever given on licenced products.
The squeaky wheel usually gets the deal. Lol

@New1954 I did call and speak with a VIP rep several times who told me "untruths." She clearly stated that there would be no advance notice for VIP members. That's what's so frustrating. If I am just a lowly VIP peasant, then why was I lied to? Why not tell the truth? I would have been on the lookout at least, even if I hadn't known the exact release time. Quote:

I am a VIP member too and I did not get advance notice either, I only found out about the gold coin release from New1954. Technically, she did not lie. However, she failed to mention there are different tiers for VIP customers, much like the RCM MC program. I suppose those who spend the most get the advance warning first. The only difference between the VIP program and the MC program is that once the coins are entered into their site, all VIP members, low and high tier can access it. But not everyone can be at their computer 24/7. Edited by MoneyPenney

@Looney4Numi I received the email stating that because I am a high level VIP client, I am being offered the opportunity to purchase the coins ahead of the general public release. Now I realize that they must have different levels of VIP status just like the RCM. Remember, I too, was told they had no clue what I was talking about with regards to gold emblem last week. I really believe that they are not lying. Out of stock does not mean that they will not offer more. Place it on your wish list on their website. You never know what may happen. In my quest to alert guests on this forum thinking I am being helpful, I have upset you. I will from now on let someone else take the lead. Edited by New1954

Ordered the $20 for $20 and Coin & Stamp set yesterday shortly after receiving the email from my rep. They will display nicely with some of the CP issues released last week.  MC page has been loaded with the series except for the gold coin which is on a wait list. |
