Inspired by logantrky's post on Peace dollars.. I decided to start browsing around. I see APMEX is offering BU Peace dollars (common 1922-1925) for $24.99 a piece. Doesn't seem like so bad of a deal overall since shipping is free if you buy a couple. I can't figure out why a solid date roll is so much more expensive though (solid date 1922 for example costs $680 but buying 20 BU coins @ 24.99 a piece is less than $500). Anyway..anyone buy BU silver dollars from them before? What was your experience? Reviews are pretty good with a few disappointed customers here and there. For reference a 1921 Morgan BU costs over $30 so the Peace dollar seems like a better value. What do you guys think of the price?

Thanks!

not bad. Especially if you think silver is going back to the $40 - $50 range. But any silver would be a great buy if that happens in the near future

Yeah I looked back to early 2015 when I ordered an AU Peace dollar from them and it cost over $28! It was in pretty decent shape. I think spot was at about $19 at that time so premiums have dropped slightly given they are selling BU coins for $3 less now and spot is $17.

Unfortunately even when spot was down to $13 or $14 this year I didn't really find any deals. It seems like places just weren't selling at that price or they simply increased the premium % over spot. I don't see silver jumping to $40 or $50 but I also don't see it getting much cheaper. Realistically I hope we get to the $25 range.

The price is good as long as the coins are truly BU. You can end up with a roll of sliders pretty easily. Why the solid date roll is so much higher doesn't make sense. You might call and ask.

Date rolls sell for a premium to people puting together full date roll sets that are willing to pay extra so they don't have to do it one at a time.

Correct - I finally gave up buying single BU '28 examples and just bought a roll.

Wow coinfrog I'm jealous. I've yet to add a 28 to my collection. 21 is the best year I have!

Well they already went out of stock for the $24.99 individual ones. Must have been popular or they had low stock to begin with.

Not a bad price considering you just can't find them in change anymore.
