I have 3 coins I am considering submitting for grading. Please take a look and share some thoughts on if I should submit, or keep them raw. #1. 1868 $3 Princess Gold. Possibly cleaned/polished with damage to the obverse at the chin from potentially a jewelry removal. Appears to have been filled, so potentially could have been holed. #2 1937-D Buffalo 3 legs. Scratches on the Observe and Reverse #3 1909 $5 Indian Gold. Although a common date, Strong Details. Any thoughts are welcome, and appreciated. I would send in the Buffalo and keep the others raw.

Send the 3 legged buffalo off but not the other two gold coins.

to CCF I agree. The buffalo needs to be graded. I am always wary when I see these. They are faked a lot. Are you confident in its authenticity? If so send that Buff in. Edited by MontCollector

I'm not sure the $3 is authentic. Pictures of the other two are not good enough to tell one way or another.

Yes, just send the nickel. The $3 piece may not be genuine. Take the gold pieces to a show and solicit a few opinions. |

Authenticity is not my concern. They all are purchased from a coin dealer in Ohio who is well respected, and I've dealt with for over 20 years. I am going to send all 3 in just for the heck of it. Results to come soon.

I would send in all three.
For my collection, I like have coins like these in slabs instead
of 2X2's.

That $3 needs to be slabbed, it's a $700+ coin even as is.
Same with the other two. If nothing else, for protection and peace of mind.

A waste of time on the two gold coins . Just send in the nickel and buy yourself a nice dinner with the saved money on the two gold coins. Your pix of the 3 dollar are poor , but it looks counterfeit or if not PTS . The Indian is bullion plus.

Not sure what PTS means. The $3 isn't counterfeit. I bought it from a well respected dealer and had another dealer concur yesterday that's a personal friend. Regardless it's being shipped tomorrow just to slabbed if anything as authentic

I'm not a big fan of slabbed anything. If those were mine, none would get slabbed or graded. I really don't like slabs. For me I'd put the Buffalo nickel in my Albums. I have several of them in Albums now and for me, that is were they belong. |

Do you have a scale, and a caliper and a strong magnet? Use all 3 on that $3 because that coin looks wrong. The fact that it is tooled means it won't get a grade either way. So if you want to spend $30+ to get it authenticated go ahead, but I would do some easy sleuthing first before I sent it in.
