My 28-S is a small S. For some reason I could not get a good shot of that 28-S. It looks streaky on the picture as well as blurry but after 3 tries I just gave up and said good enough. Coin photography definitely tries my patience.

Oh, good.. it's not just me, then.

KenKat, your photos look so casual, yet, they are very well executed. You have all these shiny red coins and hardly any obstruction from glare. You are doing a great job, if you ask me.. those are VERY hard to photograph!

@mamastinky

When I first took pictures of my 7070 and 7100, I lucked into a lighting setup that worked really well. My Memorial photos are still from those original shots as is most of my 7070.

Unfortunately, I have never been able to duplicate that setup to my satisfaction (the fact that it made the kitchen table completely unusable for a couple of days meant it couldn't stay forever).

I made multiple attempts to reshoot but never got anything that I was satisfied with. It was the first "50 Days" thread that finally got me motivated to try again and I now take them on my kitchen counter using the under counter halogen lights and the album angled just so to capture the natural look of the coins. Seems to work well enough. I started shooting the pictures in smaller chunks and piecing them together so I could do updates without needing to reshoot the other coins.

I'd eventually like to update the Memorials also as well as shoot the reverses but it is A LOT of work and matching the correct reverse and obverse makes my head hurt trying to keep it straight!

KenKat - I cringe a bit looking at your beautiful red coins pushed into album holes.

Nice looking circulated 31-S Paola! Pretty cool that even this scarce issue made it out into circulation for some lucky collector to find later.

Coinfrog, most of these coins were bought raw and I just really like the album presentation. I definitely don't press them into place with my bare thumb!

@Coinfrog

On one hand, I know what you mean about the bare red coins exposed like that; on the other hand, when handled and stored VERY carefully, those albums could do a fine job storing such coins. Since I am all thumbs (and still, for some reason I work with electronics, jewelry, and coins), such albums are bad news around me.

Albums like the 7070 potentially are safer than Whitman albums with sliders, because it seems to me that dust and grit can and does slllliiddde against the high points on coins. I am still working on a storage method for my own handling needs.
