PS - I note that the "Post an Ike" thread has about a zillion replies, so I must be in the extreme minority here!

Quote:Must admit I can't stand them either. Bald guys just don't look good on coins, especially big coins. Same goes for hook-nosed women ( SBA). Now that I'm hitting the point where I'm becoming "follicly challenged" I almost think I should start collecting Ikes as a show of bald solidarity .

I like Ike. I first started collecting coins when the Ike's came out. I was 9 at the time. They are big & shiny. Not as pretty as a Morgan or even a Peace. The moon landing is a cool aspect. I love silver proof Ikes. They are as nice a collectible coin as any other.

Also that large mirrored obverse field in an Eisenhower proof is spectacular.

I personally have no affinity towards them, but to each his own.

You can use them as a carry on mirror though!
On a serious note though. I'm not a huge fan of them as well, they don't stand out as much as I like them to. But I made myself a goal to collect every single coin from every single year with every mintmark. They fall right into that category. Needless to say, I'm very far from completion.

Some collectors do not choose to spend the funds needed to complete some of the classic sets/albums. With a Ike album most collectors can complete it, in better grade coins, with out spending a lot of money. Who doesn't like completing a coin album

I like them because they're big, and because they're the last big. Only have one, I lost my 40% 76 that I used as a golf marker. Being SpaceMaN and all, obviously I love the reverse.
