Hello I need to identify this coin, can someone help me? I think it is from Ragusa. Reverse looks like silver tallero, but the coin is made from copper, coin diameter is 21.5mm. I'm confused, is it possible that the coin is fake?
@cero, I agree that a tallero (also known as ducat et sem) should be silver and this coin isn't. There are multiple stylistic differences between your coin and the real thing. For example, the letter A in the obv legend is oddly shaped on your coin and I don't think that it should be. Also, the rector's hair is wrong on your coin (it only has two rows of curls, whereas on a tallero there are three). Either, you have a fake or a real coin that I can't find any other example of...
Where did you get this? Do you have any confidence in the seller?
