The Commemorative Coinage of Modern Sports by Mary Danaher, covers all coins issued 1952 - 1972
A good period in Olympic commemorative coinage, that wasn't too over commercialised by the mints that issued them.

Cross-eyed, I don't think you need my permission to show your Olympic spirit. If you have a coin, token or whatever that is Olympic related then I would love to see it.
I am having an unexpected result from this thread. I showed my wife what everyone is posting, now she wants to start a collection of Olympic themed coins.
This is going to cost me a lot.

The 2016 games have now come to a close. I would like to thank everyone that posted pictures of their coins and tokens and also a thank you for everyone that posted comments. I have enjoyed every bit of it. Let's do this again in two years for Korea.

How about an Olympic error coin? This is from the same series of coins that SilverDon showed, but with a spectacular die clash.

Very nice! No reason why this thread should not go on for a bit longer.

I have a book: 'The Commemorative Coinage of Modern Sports' (copyright 1978), by Mary Daniher. Just about every sports coin up to 1978 has been pictured. For this reason the book is interesting, showing all of the early commemorative sports coins.
