You should check those papers for 'key dates' before you chuck them. Nov 23/24 1963 (JFK Assination), Mar-May & mid-Aug 1945 (VE & VJ Days), July 20th 1969 (Moon Landing), etc. Depending on the city the paper is from some of these can be quite valuable...

Can we get a pic of the 'musket'?

Yeah, I found the papers for JFK & RFK and I'll keep those. Unfortunately, a lot of the older ones (like WW II and before) were ruined...either mice/squirrels had chewed on them, or water damage. A couple of the locked rooms had leaks in the roof and half the stuff in them was either soaked or eat up with mildew & mold.

Here's the gun, although it looks more like a shotgun than a rifle. Judging from the barrel, anyway. But I have no clue...

That pocket knife might be worth something too actually...

Oh lord, I've probably found 20 old pocket knives. But some of them are rusted up pretty bad. Here's the coolest one I've got so far, from the 1933 Chicago Worlds Fair. Must've been brought back by family or friends, because I know she didn't go. It's solid metal and heavier than you'd think. Not a great pic, I probably ought to scan it like the coins.

'm not joking when I say her house was like a museum.
With all those items, I think you should just go ahead an open up a museum!

Oh absolutely, I'll keep all of her coins, I'm not looking to sell any of them.
Glad to hear you are keeping the coins. Sentiment trumps monetary gain, IMHO.
