Talonbat Valued Member Canada 395 Posts	Posted 09/04/2016 2:30 pm Just thought I'd post about it I'm 99.9% certain that it is a 1954 NSF 1 cent but it doesn't hurt to get confirmation. I found this while searching through 1954 rolls(gone through about 50 rolls so far) that I bought that have been stored since 1962, so most are lightly circulated. My big question is more with placing a value on it since I don't really collect this sort of rarity and will most likely be selling it and these are all supposedly PL and this is obviously not even PL-60. Anyone who has any experience seeing these at auction or owning them below PL-60 would be greatly appreciated. I will most likely be sending it to ICCS or CCCS too make selling a bit easier. Certifying it should be important. Buyers peace of mind= higher selling price. You might get $550-600 certified. Edit: wouldn't hurt to give it a bath before sending it out. I think this would carry a heavy discount from the higher grade PLs. I would guess more like $100. Who knows though. Report this Post to the Staff

Talonbat Valued Member Canada 395 Posts	Posted 09/04/2016 7:09 pm I was only able to find one below PL-60 since I posted and that sold at auction in EF-40 that went for $700 but that was around 5 years ago, it seems to me the coin price doesn't diminish to speedily below the PL-60 due to the rarity of the actual coin which makes sense when you extrapolate the values listed in the trends. As the grade gets lower the price goes down but by very little. 1955 NSF in MS-60 is very close to the same price as a 1954 NSF in PL-60 however the surrounding values and the speed at which it goes up with quality is not even close, you could assume the same with the grade going down as well. Does anyone have population reports for ICCS on the coin? You're probably right about the bath XWL but I personally don't like to touch the coins in any way shape or form especially if I plan on selling. Report this Post to the Staff

However, it does show quite a few with no cameo (173 ranging from PL62 to PL67), and very few with cameo (4 PL65) and UHC (1 PL65). Report this Post to the Staff
