Quote:Would the RCM comment on this if asked? If it were mine, I'd still ask. Doesn't mean they'll answer or I'd believe what they might have to say. It's the Winnipeg mint that produces circulation coin?

If not slabbing it, at least take photos of it and mail them to yourself to have proof you had it before 2017. I'm stumped.

There is no rush to slab or document as it's already on this public forum, the only value is if the RCM does not produce a 2017 polar bear toonie, that said at least two bidders think it's worth north of 300 bucks.

Not only does the 7 look wrong, the 1 looks like it's been partially removed.

I was thinking it looked tooled, not shopped.
In the original photo I saw some discolouration to the right and on top of the seven. It also looked like the seven exteded well below the other numerals.
However, your more recent photos look better, so I am less certain now.

The 7 and the 1 look wrong? I don't see any issue with it. There is no other coin for comparison It all looks like a real coin. Struck, not cast... Security features... Even has the typical waffling you see on modern toonies. I see no issues with this being a legitimate toonie. I just have no idea how it could exist right now. I'm starting to think that the time travel theory might be plausible.

I can see how this could be made, as I am sure they are ramping up production for the 2017 year, my issue is how did it get that much wear on the inner core? If the mint release these by mistake, it must have been months ago for that bear to look like it was shot in the rear, and had acid poured on it.

The closer photos are much better. I'm thinking now that some 2017 coins were simple struck and accidentally distributed. Although, as mentioned, it does have more wear than one would expect.
