It looks legit to me. The only aspect that is a slight bit unusual is the condition of the core consisting of "that bear looking like it was shot in the rear, and had acid poured on it" in contrast to the "new" condition of the outer ring. If the outer ring didn't appear to be absolutely normal, my thought would be a core had been inserted into a counterfeit outer ring.

My crystal ball sees a non-paying bidder in that auction's future.

I believe this coin originated at the mint.
In the very first pic of this thread you can see the holographic maple leafs in the lined portion above the polar bear, an anti-counterfeiting device that would be very challenging and costly to reproduce.

@ KoolKat, how do these holographs look in hand?

Apologies, for the quality of these pics I had to shoot through plastic!LOL So, first pic shows off angle light on security mark, second and third pics show the maple leafs etched in! Would that be with lazer beam technology?

I must set the record straight, and have updated my story, about where I found the coin! On Monday Sept. 5th, "Labor day", I decided to go do a little metal detecting at a new park, so, off I went, stopping for a coffee, then headed to "Vimy Ridge Memorial Park",Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, for a couple of hours of treasure hunting! At first I assumed I found the coin at Tim Hortons, but after some thinking about it,, realized my Hortons change was still in the car, and this toonie was in, among my md finds for the day! I did find two toonies, and some loonies, pennies ETC, So, I am convinced it must have been a md find, It was found on top,in the grass it was not buried. That would also explain why the "one side" has the tarnishing, from laying on top of the grass at Vimy Ridge Memorial park"! After realizing what I had, my first thought was to post it on CCF, but I was just plain nervous about doing that! So my next move was to sell it so up it went on ebay! Also, I would like to thank all of you, for your comments, and "XWL", for starting this Topic"!

So, what you are saying is that your metal detector opened up a wormhole into the future to a point where and when someone will eventually drop a 2017 toonie on the ground. My guess is probably late 2018, accounting for the "bear looking like it was shot in the rear, and had acid poured on it."

You are complicating things too much jbuck... remember Occam's razor...

Clearly, someone visited the Vimy Ridge Memorial Park in a DeLorean, outfitted with a flux capacitor...

But I think a vortex opening metal detector is more plausible than a DeLorean... that can actually reach 88 miles per hour.

You also have this coin listed as uncirculated, you may want to update the description on ebay, as I was obviously circulated if you found it in the ground!!

Wishful thinking on my part, and an embarrassing mistake, its an ugly listing that was difficult for me to nail down, since the story is ongoing! If you read the entire listing, there is more! AGCoinAU, I Had to reset my settings to receive emails, and should work now, if not, just chat here.
