The "7" in the third picture is not the same as the "7" in the other pictures.

Also, Lawrence, it is a little troubling that the story has changed once questions were asked.

Thats fine, everyones entitled to their own opinion, just for the record, I changed the story, because its the truth, to reflect a more precise description of where it was found, that doesn`t make me out a liar, also, if some people want to keep trying to debunk this coin and my story, your wasting your time. I know what I have, and know I`m telling the absolute truth in this matter. I have lost some bids, but that doesn't change anything, except now, I can fix up the listing and raise the reserve! Have a nice day.

Koolkat has nothing to gain by making up this story. The photos look legit to me, even if the story has changed slightly. It's easier to believe this coin was released early than it is to believe someone would go through all this trouble for whatever it sells for. It's just a matter of time before they start popping up all over, IMO.

I have no problems believing the pictures are legit, it's also not unheard of for a coins to surface early.
What I find almost to be almost unbelievable is that this coin appears to have been exposed to an extended period of enviro damage, as you say, recovered from a field. How long to cause that, I don't know, maybe a winter? If this is the case, it was struck awhile ago, maybe pre 2016. If that's the case, what the heck were they doing "accidentally" striking 2017 toonies in say 2015 for? I wish you luck with it, I have no reason not to believe what's presented, it's a genuine 2017 toonie, but where are the rest of them? And why just one found out in a field. Very interesting coin.

I think only one has been found so far because few are in circulation and 99% of the population either doesn't look at the date on coins, and wouldn't care much if it was dated early. I believe there are more to come.

I really like the video on YouTube mentioned in the listing!! Heck, best time stamp a person can get. It would make me do a double take and think maybe I forgot a year hahaha! Take,it to the paper, might even make it worth more with a print story attached! Best of luck!

"He has nothing to gain" - huh? Don't be naïve. He is selling the coin and generating interest for the coin in social media. Anyway, I turned up the heat ever so slightly, which was enough for him to drop the listing off of ebay. If it is too good to be true (... Than it probably is ...)

It's a genuine 2017 twoonie. I don't see any reason to believe otherwise. I don't understand what jgg is implying by the 7's. In fact they exhibit the same tiny little markings in each picture. Furthermore, the fellow made a video of him showing this item. I think it's kind of mean to call someone a liar with no proof. Hard to believe, yes, but the pictures are there, the video is there with him in it, he has a great ebay account, why would he jeopardize that? Good on you koolkat for taking the listing down. As I said, I think you should take it to the paper and they can contact the RCM, it's a really cool interest storey. Money from the future! Don't let the board get you down, and thank you for sharing, that's what people should do in numismatics. I wish you best of luck and hope you make good money on it?

Thank you Allen, and I`m keeping it, perhaps I will slab it, in any case, I would consider this thread done for me, you guys want to roll me up, and use me for toilet paper, when all I wanted to do was share this with the forum.

Oh, don't be so upset. These are all reasonable questions when purchasing a raw coin that could fetch $500.

Last thoughts on this coin, maybe you should have taken the best bid unless you do collect toonies, let's say the RCM do not produce a regular 2017 polar bear design, they will make some type of special design if only the core is different design only, my understanding is one can easily pop out cores and replace, thus in 6 to 8 months from now you will either have a slightly corroded toonie or something unique.
