Got this one in the mail today. It's a very rare tetradrachm of Phraates, who ruled Elymais sometime during the early to mid 2nd century AD during the period of the Elymais Arsacid Dynasty. This is a plate coin from P. A. van't Haaff's "Catalogue of Elymaean Coinage," appearing on page 127 of the book as the illustration for type 14.7.1-1B.a. It was purchased directly from van't Haaff, from his personal collection. Phraates (Elymais) Early to mid 2nd century AD 25 x 27 mm., 14.46 gm. Obv: Bust to left in tiara with star in crescent; two line legend in left field; two crossbars on anchor Rev:Degenerated dashes Van't Haaff 14.7.1-1B.a (this coin) Ex-Van't Haaff Collection; ex-Stephen Album 202, #230 Edited by Kamnaskires 09/10/2016 4:38 pm
