Here's another historical art medal created by Laura Gardin Fraser and struck by MACO; it was issued in conjunction with Oklahoma's 50th Anniversary of Statehood.  For more on the medal, see: - 1957 Oklahoma Land Rush

Albert W. Wein (1915-1991) sculpted MACO's 60th Anniversary Medal. Size: 70mm  Wein had a diverse career, won numerous awards, was an artist-in-residence at both Brandeis University and the University of Wyoming. Czechoslovakia Freedom Medal - 1939 Artist: Mario Korbel; Bronze, 1.5" diameter "This medal was issued for the former Czech consul H. T. Schwanda to protest the Nazi takeover of Czechoslovakia on March 15, 1939. Description: Bronze struck medal with obverse depicting a male figure at center, in Czech national dress, bound to pillars with swastika; female with infant at left, child embracing man's waist at right; Prague's architectural landmarks, St. Vitus Cathedral and Charles bridges in background; inscription below city views: "PRAVDA", at left, and "ZVITEZI", at right; in exergue: "CZECHOSLOVAKIA"; legend in exergue: 'SHALL . BE . FREE. AGAIN." Reverse shows Czechoslovakian coat of arms of 1919-1939, adapted from a 20-korun coin." Excellent medal, Captain! John Hancock had cajones the size of bowling balls, based on the size of his signature on the Declaration of Independence.
