Quote: The imagery on the B&O piece is exquisite. I agree! Hans Schuler of Baltimore, MD did a great job with its design and sculpting. It's a great example of the combining of realism and symbolism/allegory.

Nice Detroit medal, commems! It seems like the Native Americans are not especially pleased at the arrival of Cadillac and his entourage.

MACO produced this for the 350th Anniversary of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The obverse includes four heads in profile representative of the four cultures (Indian, Spanish, Mexican, and American) which converged there. The reverse shows Saint Francis Cathedral. The medallion was designed by Kay Van Elmendorf Wiest and executed by Donna Quasthoff, both Santa Fe residents. Santa Fe is the oldest seat of government in the United States

Official Inaugural Medal, produced by MACO. Paul Manship did the design. The reverse features the first appearance on an Inaugural Medal of the Presidential Seal. The medal is 2.75 inches in diameter and was shipped with a medal stand. One medal was struck in gold and presented to the President. Silver replicas serially numbered from 1 to 7,500 were struck; Numbers 1 to 10 were reserved for Cabinet members. It was expected that approximately 20,000 bronze medals would be struck. A photo of JFK receiving an inaugural medal can be found here, from the JFK Library & Museum Archives https://www.jfklibrary.org/asset-vi...WHP-AR6300-A
