I'm pretty sure the fancy finishes are used as a security feature, making it harder for these coins to become easy counterfeits. With a design that has been around 50 years, I'm sure it would be fairly easy to make some dies for these 5 oz coins but the finish would make it a bit harder.

LISTEN UP EVERYONE!

I just went to the shopping channel and keyed in coins and the big coin comes up with no photo; however, I did order and it works. If this is not coming with the packaging, I will cancel. So if anyone is looking for what I believe will be the goose big coin with packaging .... go to the shopping channel website and order.

@New1954

Thank you for the info.

Looks like The Shopping Channel is selling single packaging of 5oz Goose Silver Dollar for $560 per coin.

Good finding.

Strange that it is charging 7% tax for BC resident.

The Shopping Channel charges 7% PST for BC residents for all products, not only coins. I believe the Shopping Channel registered with the BC government for a PST account. So everything gets charged 7% PST.

With a low mintage, I wonder how many of these went to the shopping channel as opposed to platinum and gold MC members, that got the sold out note the first time they saw them.

As I said in my previous post, Because this is Steve's idea of the Big Coin Series he probably received 30% or more allocated for the shopping channel. I just got off the phone with the shopping channel and I asked, the big coin they have up for sale, is for just the one coin or subscription and they informed me that there is no information on that for at least a couple of days. So I don't know if I purchased 1 coin or the subscription set. Will have to wait and see. I hope it's the subscription. Any ways thanks for the heads up NEW1954.

I believe that people are going to watch this coin for a bit until the price goes down under the $1000.00 dollar mark and probably settle down between $800 and $950.00. IMHO

Why would you pay 1000.00 when you can buy at issue, almost sure Canadian Coin has half of the mintage. What the RCM needed was to invite the original pressman from 1967 to strike the double flip strike versions, that would be really cool.

30% or more sounds like a guess as good as anyone else's. I'm not a shopping channel shopper. Do they have a countdown of items remaining as a sales tactic on the show? I'm very curious to learn the actual number of coins that were sent to them and other dealers before MC members had a crack at them.

When you commission a coin, you pay for design and die costs and a reward you are allowed up to half of the mintage

Tune in on Wednesday at 8pm on the shopping channel. That's when the coin show will start with new RCM coins with Steve Bromberg. Then you'll see how many coins were allocated to to him for the show.

What John said. And because RCM stocks and sells only a portion of the mintage of commissioned coins, they sell out early. Obviously that bodes well for the party who has commissioned it, hurry, buy now, a sell-out.
