I'd place my bet on yes. I'd think folks who bought the earlier painted Big Coin series could want a matching 1967-2017 set in the same way as the gold-plated version compliments each other.

@john100: Why do you always have to refer to the colourized Big Coin set as "cheap" or characterize it in some other negative way?

It's clear from many of your posts that you are not a fan of the colourized set - that's fine, we each like different things. But each of the coins in the colourized set contains the same five ounces of silver that each of the coins in the gold-plated series does and the tiny amount of gold used to plate the devices on the coins causes only a very minor elevation in their intrinsic value above the colour versions. I don't see how they are "cheap" versions in comparison. If the colourized versions were made of a base metal it would be a different story.

I also don't see how such a set detracts from the gold-plated set or decreases its value - they each appear to appeal to a different group of collectors.

I'm sure those that have collected the colourized set don't believe them to be "cheap knockoffs" of the gold-plated set.

(For the record, I do not own a colourized set of the Big Coins, nor do I own one of the gold-plated sets.)

I might think similar, but here example, that shows not nice side of it:

When we see "enhanced" SML, we immediately say, that the "mintage" is not 500, 1000 or 2000, but millions.
Isn't it the same, when colorization of the Big Coin literally doubles the mintage?
For some people it really meter, if their subscription 2150 or 4300 units....

@MoneyPenney

Thank you for posting the pics from the Shopping Channel Coin Show. The Goose coin looked stunning on camera as well as the large photos of the rest of the series that Bromberg showed. To each their own as most say and I really am looking forward to receiving each and every one of these coins. Great set for "MY" collection to add to Big Coin Series 1 and 2.

@commems

The Big Coin Coloured version does not look cheap to me and I do have it. Let others say what they will about any series. Thank you for saying good things about the set. I am a proud owner.

Ditto. I too am really looking forward to receiving the full set. It looks really great. It must be nice to have the first two Big Coin series with which to display it.

You pay over 3000.00 for a set of the first big coin set done tastefully based on the fact of being a 1500 mintage set, then a few months latter a colour version of exactly the same theme, what would you call it? Also it depresses the value of the first set, as most collectors like me didn't bother with the colour version as units are still available today, Look I agree buy what you like this 67 tribute is nice but since it's commissioned by the same company and increased mintage, a colour set is almost a sure thing and history will repeat. I don't think there is any 5 oz. except an occasional 2012 penny that sells for over 1000.00, seems like almost everyone expects this goose dollar to approach 1500 to 2000, good luck to all who purchased.

When I try to enter more than 1 QTY at The Coin Shoppe....it says it only has 1.

Now does this mean it's the last one left? Or theres a limit of 1 per person?

I think it would be fair so say that the gold plated Big coins are more sought after then the coloured counterpart. The coloured ones are selling for far less than the gold plated. I'm not saying one is better than the other as I firmly believe that the tables may have turned if the coloured version was released first. Personally, I like the gold ones better, but that's just me.
I'm just guessing, but I'd assume many who got the gold version will pass on the coloured simply because of the cost of buying both. From the looks of it, generally speaking, the gold plated coins are selling for higher than the coloured.

By selectively gold-plating , the primary element gets more bold, or the secondary elements of entire picture become more visible.

But the colorization - this pure imagination of the Mint, cause original design was never in colour.

Why do we see some pictures in black'n'white?
Will it be fun re-painting some of the art-works in different then original colours?

Imo, colorizing of the originally minted blank design changes it not always to the good side.

If the scale of desirability has began to level out, I think it occured upon the coloured polar bear being released.

Canada-150th:-1967-Centennial-Big-Coin-Series

Mintage is not such a big deal as might think. I think what matters more is how many are up for sale in the secondary market at any given time, and how desperate are buyers to sell or sellers to buy.

Simple if the colour versions were as popular as the first set, it too would be sold out long ago, just as your pics of the twoonie, which is more elegant. Mintage greatly affects normal 1oz. NCLT, us collectors are just burned out with these endless offerings
