True, @onecad. However, the photo in the ebay listing is much bigger with more of a WOW factor, and makes me want to buy it right away!

lol

@onecad

Ordering online at Canada Post does not qualify for MC status st RCM.

There are only a few Canada Post locations that your purchases with them will count.

Looking at the cases for the Colville coins made me wonder, how many people that ordered the first coin that came with the wooden case are actually going to get the full series? It would really suck if you missed out on the first coin and the wooden case just to receive the next coin in one of those clear plastic envelopes with no case at all. Would it actually soften demand for the rest of the series? Or will all the rest of the series come in the clamshells?

@rjlavoie

I would think those on subscription will get the rest of the set in the envelopes but there will also be individual coins sold in the clamshell.

How could someone miss out?
Dealers still have them at retail price:

Onecad is right.

RCM distributes subscriptions this way, with some exceptions in the past.
Not the package will reduce the demand for the next coins, but existence of "out-of-sub" coins.
For majority of the collectors, the 1967 edition associates with $1 Goose, plus there are many Silver Dollar collectors. The other designs great as well, but this will not contribute the entire set to hold the value.
(I see the single coins easily will be available for CAD 500 instead of 550, and complete set will not have demand, too expensive, CAD 2500-3000 probably)

I can't see any one single commemorative 5oz being overly popular, a collection of one big expensive item that's out of sync with the rest of a collection or overshadows it, what's the point.

However I can relate to interest in a full 5oz collection, adding each and every series as it's released. But the reality is just how attractive is it to the typical collector to fork out a total of $3000 or so a set. It soon becomes extremely costly leading to overspending > exit particularly when it's churned out at the whim of the consigner. One a year, two a year, now way to know what to expect. And to someone hoping to jump in later and buy past releases....a significant cost in total that increases with each additional series.

In my opinion, it's the low resell potential that will cause substantial devaluation. The more 5oz released, the greater the fall. What doesn't help matters is the already high issue price.

The shopping channel right now has the Bobcat for sale at issue price in the packaging and not with the wooden box, if anyone is interested.

Bromberg to be on Shopping Channel starting tomorrow ......

Looks like these nice coins sharing the path of the coloured Big Coins series.
On the other forum, two members trying to sell "The Goose" (get rid off them) for issue price.
Just not enough demand, at least nowdays.
But if first coin in the series can't find a home, the rest will sit in the dealers stock, majority at CC&C / TSC.

Good purchase for people who enjoy the design, or just love the art. Not good news, for some, who keeps the coin as something valuable.

There is a chance, that 1967 "The Goose" Silver Dollar will be the next (in 2017) in the series of the Renewed Silver Dollar.
Design - same as on the 5oz coin (selectively gold-plated).

But from point of view of scarcity / price - should be more popular, than 5oz version.

Let's see in November 2017 ...

There is very little demand for the silver dollar goose right now. People are on the other coin forum are offering free coins to get rid of it. Funny thing, some of the "free" coins are in themselves free coins from the RCM when they had the promotion of buying x dollar amount of coins and getting free coins in return.
