@redzapsid No coins have been added for free on my orders. I am almost platinum prestige again for this following year and nada! RCM is not being fair. My rep told me "sorry". What a joke.

Quote:I am not sure but someone mention that the offer was available to the public if they went to the RCM site on the weekend. There were banners that advertised the deals. Did anyone see it? I don't believe the promo was available to the public on the weekend. I tried several times Saturday and Sunday to find it and tried adding coins to the cart to get the free ones - did not happen. I also tried login in as MC, not MC and guest. Nada. I saw no banner. This deal makes no sense. It wasn't just to win back old customers, or to lure in new ones, or even to reward loyal customers. It appears to simply be a lottery and just another bizarre event in a series of baffling actions by the RCM.

It could only have been offered to as many customers as the number of coins selected to giveaway, sitting on the shelf in the RCM storage room. Otherwise if too many people took up on the offer, I can't see them minting more just to give away for free.

Maybe those of us who are spending a lot of money annually with RCM (Master Club Platinum) should form a group, might that get us more respect?

Onecad, I'd suggest simply not buying anything from them. As discussed to the point that it's common knowledge, you can get most items cheaper a few months after issue. The discounts at many dealers far outweigh the RCM's attempt to reward loyal customers. We've all filled out surveys, complained about unfairness, etc., and nothing gets done. The problem is that long term collectors are the ones that pay the price since the RCMs target market is now new collectors where the real profits are made. . Again, this all having been discussed many times. I've not bought anything yet this MC cycle (and won't until I get the redemption code that gives me a credit, again talked about previously). I have liked many coins though, and 5 years ago would have jumped all over them. I'm keeping tabs on the ones I like since July 1st and so far the same collection could be bought for 70% issue price. Which means selling for 50-60% of issue price if you're lucky to find a buyer. I had better rewards before I this new mc program. I feel dumb for allowing my collection to get the size it is, before realizing it is a waste of money. I wanted coins to leave for future generations. I could do the same in 20 years for a fraction of the cost.

What's crazy is that the RCM changes their mind about things so often, that's it's creeped it's way into coin designs. Are some people getting the design that was originally posted while others get the new one as seen on the RCM website? Are they going to make both? Might as well, if people will buy them. If there were 2 designs, how many people would just have to have them? Only another $710. In addition to the mint saying farewell to the penny in 2012, they also killed the hobby the same year. That's when I noticed a steady downward spiral. Hopefully the hobby returns with a big hype similar to the way the penny has somehow also returned. I'm guessing it will be longer than 4 years though. This is the nicest set that I wish was not made. Not now anyhow. Either 2012 or 2062 would have been great.

Redzapsid Thanks for the great post. This likely needs to be in another thread. I when on an email tirade back in August trying to get someone at RCM to listen to me, nothing seemed to work, even when through Minister of Finance which I realize now have no pull at the mint. One message to the Facebook group saying if I got no response I would launch a Social media campaign opened the door. I think they're struggling with their business model and I'm quite certain change is on the way. It's a business that doesn't make a lot of sense, you have; 1. Direct sales (on-line store) 2. Sales Reps - any business I've been involved with, sale reps bring in NEW business, goes out and finds customers that don't find the mint. I purchased $5000 from them through the on-line store and they want to turn me over to a sales rep, makes no sense! 3. Resellers or the dealers. It's extremely difficult to run a sales organization having both direct sales and resellers (believe me I've been there). I can most assure you there are those inside RCM making the case for a direct model ONLY.

On the Master Club page it says:
Innovative Offers Valuable Benefits Exclusive Rewards
You would think the special offer of free coins when spending a certain amount is part of the "valuable benefits".
What is the point of MC membership, especially higher tiers when you don't get certain "perks" that membership should entail.

I'd love to own this set, whichever is actually being made, very much. Perhaps in the future

That's one unique aspect of coin collecting. As it isn't a necessity, it doesn't really matter at what point in time additions to a collection are accumulated. Penny Commemoratives or the real thing. Collectors are still buying what was minted over 150 years ago beginning in 1858. Lots of time.

When I have millions in the bank, and a nice big house with a room to display my coins, and a state of the art security team with armed guards 24/7, I'll likely go out a pick up one of these sets. I'm curious to know why they changed the design of some of the coins. And I can't wait to see the comments/questions on the RCM website.

I didn't get a notice for this set... I'll have to venture into the secondary market to get it I suppose... As nice as the set is - I am annoyed that the RCM is minting more 1 cent coins, when they stated that in 2012, none more would be made...

I sent a complaint to my rep. about the promotions and this was his reply"The only reason the promo exists is to get those specific people back into collecting. Same concept with the new promo you sent me, this one is only for specific people as well. That being said, within the next two weeks we will either be extending the promo to everyone, or have a new promo for everyone. It's not that promos are only on the site, it's that they have to show the 'rules' of the promo on the web for legal reasons, but only a few people are getting the promo email to begin with. In any case, the new upcoming promo you will be able to take advantage of!" I'm tempted to cancel everything I have on order. I am platinum prestige and this makes no sense at all. Before this came about there was and still is a promotion about a $20 Free gift. He had to ask the supervisor if I was entitled to it? Answer.....no that's for people who haven't bought in a long time...... well maybe we all should buy in a long time.

100%, totally agree! But then again, they sell 1/4 oz coins that actually weigh more than 1/4 oz. very frustrating.
