I called CS today.

They said the promo expired yesterday.

They said, if I called in yesterday and asked for the set (even though it was Awaiting Stock on the website) I likely would have gotten the penny set AND the 3-free coin promo :(

Spp-Ottawa,

The farewell only lasted 4 years, as I'm sure you know. One of the main reasons I bought the farewell series was based on the penny not being made again. I'm very disappointed with that, but I do like the new set.
Certainly not enough to fork over $710 though.
Hopefully this increases the value of the 2012s but I doubt it will.
I'm thinking it might be a better idea to keep the brick and mortar coin shops alive and get into it circulation coins instead of wasting another dime on NCLT. The problem is, I lack the skill to know a good deal with coins older than me. Lol.

the coins they give away in promos are free for a reason. The sum of the issue price of these 3 coins does not translate to how much they are worth. Many people here seem to think they can resell the same coins the mint couldn't sell, thus the free promo. It seems the RCM is reaching, trying to stay afloat.
The flood of coins astounds me. As nice as this penny set is, did it really need to be made? Does it mark anything significant? Did the RCM consider their wording with the farewell series or is it ok to say whatever sells and do whatever you want afterwards?

"or is it ok to say whatever sells and do whatever you want afterwards?" that's exactly what they do so it must be ok. We still buy....for now.

You might. I don't. The only coin I have any plan to buy is the birthstone coin for December. That is one of few that is relatively low mintage and isn't crazy overpriced. If I didn't already have months for other family members, it'd likely be no more coins at all. I might get one of those frames the RCM sells now, if I ever get my MC redemption coin. The frames hold their value better than the coins in them.

That being said, within the next two weeks we will either be extending the promo to everyone, or have a new promo for everyone.

In any case, the new upcoming promo you will be able to take advantage of!" I'm tempted to cancel everything I have on order

Thanks for the info.
Good to know that there will be an upcoming similar promo.

That mean I will not be making any purchases until I see the promo. I think everyone on these forums will hold out from buying coins until the new promo comes out.

On a side note, from the other coin forum, the RCM will be coming out in November with a 3D Grizzly Coin for $995.95, mintage 1200, 10 oz gold plated in a dome similar to this coin:
Legacy-Of-The-Penny-Five-Coin-Set

Maybe we can use the promo for the Grizzly Coin.

If I could get 5% discount on the Legacy of the Penny set 2017 right now, I will cancel with RCM.

I am done with ordering big and getting nothing but an 'ORCA"

I agree with Redzapsid- I was looking at all my coins and thought," how did this happen?".This time I decided to buy a new Samsung 4k HDR TV and put the coins on the back burner. I was feeling a little ansy about not buying the penny set or the breached whale, but still resisting. Feeling a little better seeing how great the tv looks. :)

Surely it all personal preference, but the above TV basically the same like 40" standard TV. All just marketing plus adjusted contrast.

But again, each of us has different spending priority

I don't know....sorry, no offence... above just being said, that you will choose the right thing for you to enjoy

I bought a new 4K TV as well last week and I could not resist, so I also bought this set. So I will have both sets: the TV set and the Penny set. Lol :))))))

My birthday presents to myself.
